Eye Care Tip of the Month: What is Lid Margin Disease
Lid margin disease (also called blepharitis, chronic staph lid disease, etc.) is quite common and its symptoms come on gradually. Because of this, it is often over-looked by doctors and patients. Sometimes it is also confused with ocular allergies. Symptoms of lid margin disease include crusting of the eyelashes in the morning, red eyes worse in the morning and improving throughout the day, eyes feeling tired and gritty, itching, even lumps within the eyelids called chalazion and styes. Lid margin disease can make contact lens wear uncomfortable. It can cause blurred vision that improves with blinking. More serious side effects are possible. If any of these symptoms sound familiar to you, ask your eye doctor about lid margin disease today.
