PRK
PRK (Photorefractive Keratectomy) is an alternative procedure for patients who are not good candidates for LASIK. PRK does not require the creation of a corneal flap, but requires longer healing time. The results for PRK and LASIK are identical at six months.
Some laser surgeons prefer PRK over LASIK for all candidates. Commonwealth Eye Surgery stresses the need for careful individualized planning, and thoroughly explains the risk and benefis for each procedure.
