YAG Capsulotomy
After cataract surgery, the back surface of the capsule that holds the lens in place commonly becomes hazy. This occurs very quickly in some patients, and quite slowly in others. Ultimately, about 30% of patients will eventually experience some loss of vision due to this haziness. Fortunately, there is a very quick “no touch” laser procedure called a YAG Posterior Capsulotomy that removes the hazy capsule and restores the clarity of vision that has been lost.

What is a YAG?

Will I be sedated?
The YAG Posterior Capsulotomy normally does not cause pain which does not require sedation. Thus, there is no need to have a driver for this procedure unless you have concerns about driving while your eyes are dilated.
Will I have prescription eye drops to use after procedure?
Most patients will not need a prescription eye drop after a yag laser. However, if there is a need, the surgeon will let you know on the date of this procedure, and we will send this to the pharmacy of your choice.
