When Sandy Highland isn’t working at Commonwealth Eye Surgery, she and her husband, Russ, are looking for ways to give back to society via their local business, The Drum Center of Lexington.  This year is no different as the couple is gearing up for “The Big Beat 2011” benefitting local music programs through Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation.  The Big Beat is the world’s largest multi-city drum set event to raise money for worthwhile causes.  Last year’s Big Beat drew 1,653 drummers and percussionists with about 6,000 spectators and raised more than $54,000 for charity.  This is the Drum Center of Lexington’s first year to participate, so Sandy and Russ are very excited.  To learn more about this event, please CLICK www.drumcenteroflexington.com .
