Understanding LASIK with Commonwealth Eyes
February 11, 2013Do You Have Night Blindness?
February 25, 2013Have you always wondered what it really means to have 20/20 vision? Most of us associate it with perfect vision but in reality, it’s just a measurement of distance (and no one has absolutely perfect vision). When your vision is 20/20, it basically means that you can see what someone without any vision problems can see at a distance of 20 feet and doesn’t factor in things like night vision, peripheral vision, ability to focus on close objects, or depth perception. So if someone has 20/15 or 20/10 vision that just means that standing next to someone with 20/20 vision, he or she would be able to see 5 or 10 feet farther, respectively. There are many factors that go into your overall vision and only your eye doctor can give you an accurate idea of how you will see after LASIK or other types of eye surgery.
